Mara Manzolini is an up and coming London-based filmmaker and aspiring producer.
Having grown up in southern Switzerland, Mara became fluent in German, Italian, French, and Swiss German. In high school, she specialised her studies in Commerce and Economics, during which time she made a short film about self-discovery, Sense. From a young age, Mara developed a love of storytelling and a fascination for film and TV, which led her to pursue this career.
As a member of the second official jury “Cinema Gioventù” she judged the Short Films category of the Locarno Film Festival in 2014.
In 2014, Mara moved to London to study for a Certificate in Filmmaking at MET Film School, during which she had the opportunity to produce two graduation films: Toxic Hearts and Lighthouse, and was 3rd Assistant Director on two MET feature films. Since, Lighthouse has been nominated in film festivals like The National Film Festival for Talented Youth (Seattle, USA) and The London Independent Film Festival (London, UK).
As part of her studies, Mara has additionally worked as Post-Production Supervisor and Line Producer on Upstage, a six-part web comedy-drama. In the summer of 2015, Mara interned for Frank Spotnitz at Big Light Productions.
After completing her Master's in Producing at MET Film School, Mara is now working as a freelance producer . Highlights from this year include her short informational video for RightsInfo Human Rights: What can be more British than that? on the future of human rights in the UK (winner of the Smart Screen Creative Awards 2016, Impact). online short films for Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube channels, as well as the organisation and coverage of events during Food Tech Week. Her latest project "Shifting Focus" - a short informational film about the lack of Women Directors in the UK featuring Sarah Gavron, Caroline Bartleet and Emma Smithwick has been recently released in collaboration with Directors UK.
Other projects Mara has produced include two short films for Andy Serkis at The Imaginarium Studio and a Screen South Random Acts experimental film.
Mara is looking forward to producing her first feature film in June 2017.
